Across fields and moorland to ‘Nant Pasgan Mawr’, a medieval house set in an idyllic valley, possibly the finest medieval house in Gwynedd.
Listed at Grade II as an important survival of an early Merioneth farmhouse, a rare example of the use of crucks combined with stone construction – important evidence for the transition from timber to stone building traditions in the region. In plan and layout, as well as construction, the house appears to mark the transition from a medieval open hall tradition to that of the storeyed house and represents an early stage in the emergence of a strongly regional post-medieval building tradition (the Snowdonia House).
