Situated in the southernmost part of the Snowdonia National Park are these lovely, little-walked Tarren Hills, and this is our first venture into this area this year. The summits of the two gems of the Tarrens are linked by the breath-taking high Pilgrims’ way in a strenuous and rewarding circular route. Separated from the Cader Idris range by the Dysynni Valley and the Tal-y-Llyn lake and from the Plynlimon range by the Dyfi, this compact range of hills provides some excellent, crowd-free walking. Tarrenhendre and Tarren-y-Gesail, the highest peak, are traversed via a high ridgeway back to a narrow gauge railway station and will provide a great weekend start to our Walking Festival 2019.
