Barmouth is full of history, start off by visiting the RNLI station and view our new waterjet propelled Shannon Class, all weather lifeboat, Ella Larson. Then visit the sailors institute on the Quay. Ascend through Old Barmouth (Hen Bermo) passing Ruskin’s Cottages, Visit Dinas Oleu, the first land given to the National Trust and the Frenchman’s Grave. Detour to see the rock cannons, also called ‘celebration stones’ returning past an ancient hill fort and manganese mines to Llanbedr. Here you can visit the old Church of St Mary and St Bodfan, which, with substantial restoration work in 1860, is a well preserved 13th Centuary Grade I listed building. Finally returning to Barmouth either along the main road, promenade or a paddle along the beach.
